WinSCP Tutorials – Connecting with FTP, FTPS, SFTP, uploading and downloading
In the second part of our WinSCP tutorials, learn how to connect, upload and download to and from your HostedFTP account.

To connect to your server/HostedFTP account, you’ll need 3 pieces of information:
Hostname (by default, will be “ftp.hostedftp.com”)
Username (or email address)
Password
Connecting with SFTP
When connecting with SFTP you may also be required to know your “default remote directory”.
Which is the folder you want to land in when you connect via FTP client or the “default FTP folder” in your Setup Tab.
To connect to your HostedFTP account, follow the instructions below:
Open WinSCP and the site manager should automatically open.
Click “New site” and fill in the connection credentials.
Input your hostname, username and password login credentials (by default you can always use ftp.hostedftp.com as the hostname).

Select your protocol using the drop down menu.
If needed you can specify the default remote directory by clicking “Advanced” or o
To upload and download, you can use 3 different methods:
Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer in your remote site (HostedFTP account) or local site (PC). Click and drag the file(s) or folder(s) from directory to directory.
Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer from your desktop or the WinSCP interface and drag and drop the file(s) or folder(s) into the appropriate directory. Example: Drag from WinSCP to your desktop to download and vise versa.
Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer, right click the item and select either upload or download.
