Upon opening WinSCP, the site manager will automatically open and ask you to connect to your server before being able to explore the interface. To learn how to connect to your HostedFTP account through WinSCP click here.
There are 4 parts to WinSCP’s interface:
Local Site Folder Browser – located in the left center panel and reveals local folders and files. Use the local site folder browser to search through directories and find files to upload or the landing directory for downloads.
Remote Site Folder Browser – located in the right center panel and reveals local folders and files. Use the remote site folder browser to search through directories and find files for download or the upload destination for local files.
Toolbar – located at the top of the WinSCP interface and shows tools, actions and shortcuts used to speed up your transfer processes. In the toolbar, you’ll also find your transfer settings, the site manager and other tools used to manage your remote or local site.
Transfer Queue – located at the bottom of the WinSCP interface and reveals the current, pending, failed and successful transfers. Use the transfer queue to view, prioritize or manage your transfers.
