We support and strongly recommend you connect with secure connections using FTPS (FTP over TLS/SSL) or SFTP (FTP over SSH) as a security best practice.
For IP addresses please see this link. You can also view our Filezilla Video Tutorials to: install and download, connect and transfer files, import connections and edit logs, and bookmarking and using multiple connections.
|Host||ftp.hostedftp.com or yourdomain.hostedftp.com or ftp.yourdomain.com||The Hosted~FTP~ service will connect your FTP client to the
|Username||Your username OR email address|
|Ports||FTPS passive mode: 21, 1200-2000
FTPS active mode: 21, 1024-65536
|Ports 21, 1200-2000 must be open to connect via FTP/FTPS in passive mode.
It’s recommended to use passive mode in order to open less ports.
|Transfer Mode||We support both active and passive mode. We recommend
choosing the passive mode (PASV) to minimize issues with
firewalls that block FTP connections
|If you are unable to connect using passive mode, please
note that in addition to port 21 we use ports 1200 to 2000 for data transfers. You may need to update your firewall configuration to allow access to ports 21 and 1200 to 2000 for the TCP/IP protocol.Please see this link for further details on the differences between active and passive mode.
|Plain FTP only requires: Host, User, and Password|
|For FTPS, please make sure:
Port: 21 is inputted
Encryption: Use explicit FTP over TLS if available
Transfer Settings Tab: Passive mode should be check-marked
Note: if the connection fails, you will also need to allow ports 1200 – 2000 through your firewall. Please see this link for further details on the differences between active and passive mode.
