Import templates for users and shared folders

On the attached “Import Template.csv” spreadsheet the first tab is for importing users. second tab is for importing shared folders. Please review the Excel comments which explain what belongs in the columns. These should be reviewed and modified or deleted if you don’t want to import that information.

Example spreadsheets attached

Import User(s)

The basic feature is on the Users tab–>”Import users” page. Although this directs you to enter only username and password, there is an extended file format that allows you to specify other fields as well as per the details below. Format your import with comma separated fields and ensure that the first line contains the descriptor as noted below. This should be followed by one or more lines per user that you want to import.

  •  Usernames: see this link for username policy
  •  Password: minimum of 6 characters
  •  Storage Quota: number of bytes with no delimiters
  • Bandwidth Quota: number of bytes with no delimiters
  •  Shared user: Sets “managed user”. Removes setup tab from the user
  •  read-only: when set  true will restrict the user to read only capabilities, irrespective of the shared folder permission (for this to work the user must be a managed user)
  • timeZoneEnum: a slight modification on the standard java TimeZone ids. This value should be the standard java TimeZone id but with the forward slash replaced by “X”
e.g. To set timezone for Los Angeles, enter “AmericaXLos_Angeles”
Here is an article that contains a listing of the standard java TimeZone ids:
  •  countryEnum: standard 2 letter country abbreviation in upper case (e.g. US, CA, etc.)
  •  languageEnum: any of the following values in lower case (browser, en, fr, de, it, es, pl)
  •  groupName: the name of an existing group in the account
  •  defaultFtpPath: name of any folder in the user’s account e.g folder/user1 (no “/” at the beginning)
  •  “Notify me when sent files are” is split into 2 fields in the import: notifyReceive and notifySend – enter true or false for each value

Here is an example of importing a single user.

Import Share path, Contact (User), Access, Notify

4) read_write_no_delete (RWND) – list folder contents, upload files, download files, cannot delete or overwrite files/folder
5) none  (N)- no access to folder, can be used for notifications only setup
Notifications to be sent to this contact. Please note that notifications can only be sent to contacts who have an email address associated with their account:
1) upload (U) – notify this contact when anyone uploads a file to this folder
