To connect to your server/HostedFTP account, you’ll need 3 pieces of information:

  1. Hostname (by default, will be “ftp.hostedftp.com”)
  2. Username (or email address)
  3. Password

Connecting with SFTP

When connecting with SFTP you may also be required to know your “default remote directory”.
This is the folder you want to land in when you connect via FTP client or the “default FTP folder” in your Setup Tab.

To connect to your HostedFTP account, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open FileZilla, click File and open the Site Manager.
  2. Click “New site” and give the site connection a name.
  3. Input your hostname, username, and password login credentials (by default you can always use ftp.hostedftp.com as the hostname).
Click Here for more information on connecting with an FTP client.
  4. Select your protocol using the drop-down menu.
  5. If needed you can specify the default remote directory in the “Advanced” tab.
  6. Click “Connect” and click “Ok” to the unknown host key to gain access to your remote site.
Check, “Always trust this host, add this key to cache” if you want to save the host key to bypass the “unknown host key” notification in the future.

To upload and download, you can use 3 different methods:

  1. Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer in your remote site (HostedFTP account) or local site (PC). Click and drag the file(s) or folder(s) from directory to directory.
  2. Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer from your desktop or the FileZilla interface and drag and drop the file(s) or folder(s) into the appropriate directory. Example: Drag from FileZilla to your desktop to download and vice-versa.
  3. Browse the file(s) or folder(s) you want to transfer, right-click the item and select either upload or download.
